One not-so-spring chicken weighs in on what should be your new CI mascot.
I was deeply offended over the Labor Day weekend–my wife and I were staying with some friends at their lake house, laying out in the sun, and these three turkey vultures were circling overhead checking us out. Now I am no spring chicken, but give me a break birds, I am not nearly dead yet!
Then it struck me that those vultures–the waste eliminators of the air–are a lot like what you would expect your continuous improvement effort to be: constant vigilance looking and examining your processes, ready to swoop down and eliminate the waste when it appears.
Instead, I have seen countless Kaizen events where the noisy seagulls flock in from all over, eat the food, crap all over everything, then fly off.
Got vultures? Congratulations!
